Chapter 5 -- Active Server Pages

Chapter 5

The Internet has become an increasingly powerful means of making information available to large numbers of people. Just as with internal corporate applications, an Internet-based application often must generate dynamic displays from one or more data sources. Active Server Pages (ASP) is a technology included with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) that can help developers create Internet applications. With the release of IIS 4.0, ASP is integrated with Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS).

This chapter describes how to use IIS and ASP as an integration and presentation layer for MTS. The focus is on what capabilities ASP provides and how it interacts with MTS, rather than on the specifics of developing pages. For further information about ASP development, refer to the bibliography, which lists several references.
