This chapter has provided an overview of a number of technologies shipping either in Windows Vista, or closely related to Windows Vista, that affect security of your desktops. Many of these are technologies that are just "there" for you to take advantage of with no additional configuration needed. However, many, such as the Restart Manager, Session 0 isolation, and Service Hardening, need to be leveraged by your application vendors to realize their full potential. Some require you to configure them properly to realize any benefit at all. These include the ActiveX Installer Service and the MSDOP. Used properly, these technologies can all be valuable tools in your quest to protect your network.
