Chapter Review

Dynamic routing is an important part of any network configuration. With careful planning and implementation, we can maximize the availability of network links by carefully selecting the routing protocols we use. At one end of the scale, we have the relatively simple Router Discovery Protocol supplying a default route to individual clients all the way through RIP and to the other end of the scale where we have OSPF, the protocol that is being adopted in more and more situations due to its flexibility and widespread appeal in the networking arena and elsewhere. I hope that this introduction and series of examples gives you the confidence to try some of these solutions for yourself.
