Using COM Components

Using COM+ Components

COM+ is the Component Services layer in Windows 2000 and later operating systems. It supplies a number of services to components running under Windows, such as

  • Role-based security

  • Object pooling and just-in-time activation

  • Queued components for asynchronous calls

  • Transactional processing

  • A publish-and-subscribe events model

The Type Library Importer tool and Visual Studio .NET can both create wrappers for COM+ components using the same procedures they use for COM components.
