Part II discusses three main areas of client system support through SMS 2.0: resource discovery, client installation, and remote control. Chapters 7 and 8 describe the discovery and assignment process for SMS client systems. Before a client can be installed as an SMS client, it must be discovered and assigned to an SMS 2.0 site. The three client setup methods are described, along with their process flow. SMS 2.0 now supports software inventory as well as enhanced hardware inventory, and the collection process for the various SMS client types is defined for both hardware and software inventory in Chapter 9. In Chapter 10, you'll learn how to remotely monitor and troubleshoot a client system through the SMS Administrator Console.
