Chapter 10. Controlling Access to Modules

You should give some thought to how you want to control access to the content on your site. There are basically three categories of user in the PHP-Nuke world: anonymous, registered, and subscriber. An anonymous user, of course, is just someone who shows up. You have no idea who this is and have no way of finding out. A registered user is someone who provides you with a username, an e-mail address, a password, and possibly more. These users go through a confirmation process that PHP-Nuke handles automatically, ensuring that their e-mail address is valid and ensuring that you have a way to contact them. They can log into your site by using their username and password. A subscribed user is someone who's paid for access to your Web site. These users are also registered, and they have a username and password that they log in with.
