Summary

There are many types of distributed assets that IT departments would like to see included in an enterprise-wide repository such as that of WSAA. Appendix B: Software Requirements

Overview

This appendix provides a list of software requirements that your site must satisfy to install WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer (WSAA). We list prerequisite software for both mainframe and distributed inventory collections.

Note 

This list of software products applies to WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer Version 2 Release 2.

The latest available program temporary fix (PTF) for WSAA — when this chapter was written — is UQ77397.

Additional patches have been issued subsequent to the PTF. You can obtain the latest set of patches from:

Mainframe operating systems

You can have either one of the following systems:

  • 5647-A01 OS/390 Version 2 Release 10

  • 5694-A01 z/OS Version 1 Release 1 or later

In either instance, you must install the optional feature Security Server or an equivalent security product before you use WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer.

Mandatory software

You can have either one of the following software versions:

  • 5645-DB2 DB2 for OS/390 Version 6

    You must install and configure the JDBC application support and the Net.Data for OS/390 Version 2.2 feature (with PUT0112 applied).

  • 5675-DB2 IBM DB2 UDB Server for OS/390 and z/OS with National

    Language Version 7

    You must install and configure the JDBC application support and the Net.Data 7.1 feature (with PTF UQ62108 applied).

You can have either one of the following software versions:

  • 5655-A98 WebSphere Application Server for OS/390 Version 3 Release 5

    PTF UQ58000 must be applied before using WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer.

    Java Development Kit V1R3 with PTF UQ62958 is required.

    WebSphere Application Server must be enabled to access DB2 using JDBC as described in Appendix E of WebSphere Application Server Standard Edition Planning, Installing, and Using , GC34-4835.

  • 5655-F31 WebSphere Application Server for OS/390 Version 4

    Java Development Kit V1R3 with PTF UQ62958 is required. WebSphere Application Server must be enabled to access DB2 using JDBC.

Functional requisites

A functional requisite is defined as a product that is not required for the successful installation of this product or for the basic function of the product, but is needed at runtime for a specific function of this product to work.

The list of functional requisites for WSAA includes the following program products:

  • 5655-E04 IMS Library Management Utilities Version 1 or later

    Used for IMS DBD and PSB control block analysis

  • 5685-012 IMS/ESA Database Manager Version 5 or later

    Used for IMS application analysis

  • 5685-013 IMS/ESA Transaction Manager Version 5 or later

    Used for IMS application analysis

  • 5655-147 CICS Transaction Server Version 1 Release 3 or later with PTF

    UQ48250

    Used for CICS application analysis

Distributed operating systems

The following are Microsoft Windows requisites and are required only if you use the distributed assets support in WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer.

You can have either one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows NT Version 4 (SP4 or later is required)

  • Windows 2000 Professional

Mandatory software

The following software is required:

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) V1.2.2 or later

  • IBM DB2 UDB Windows Runtime Client V6

  • WebSphere Application Server Standard Edition Version 3 Release 5 or later, with the latest service applied
