All of the functionality that we have covered so far helps you, as a project manager or leader, gain further insight into your existing systems. Another challenge is how to leverage the existing information that has been captured within the code of your application portfolio. Typically, you would have to manually read through your programs to find the business rules, but now, WSAA has already done that for you.
One aspect that could prove to be beneficial is where to look for reusable code. WSAA provides some help with this in the form of an e-business rating of your code.
On any Program detail page, under the Actions column, is the link, view e-business program information. When you click this link, the e-business program information page is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-16.
Figure 4-16: e-business program information page
It lists the number of lines, the input and output screen count, flows to other (external) routines, and overall data input and output statements. The total index is calculated for you.
To see how this information was calculated, you can click View e-business transformation base table. The database contents is displayed in a tabular format for you to review, as shown in Figure 4-17.

Attention: | WSAA system or product administrators take note, you can customize or tailor this table to match your site’s requirements. |
To Web-enable your applications, screen processing must be separated from the control and business processing. By having a reference count of how screen I/O is related to the control flows and data I/O, you have a better opportunity to understand how you can modify the program.
Note | The control and business processing that is contained in your application program will undoubtedly require some modification to turn these business rules into components before you can use them in a Web application. |
