Q&A

Q1:

Doesn't the Firefox application also contain an email client?

A1:

No. The other major browsers based on the Mozilla project, namely the Mozilla web browser and the Netscape web browser, both include an email application. Firefox, however, does not. In Fedora Core 4, email functionality is handled by Evolution, which is covered in Chapter 12, "Managing Email with Evolution."

Q2:

Is there any way to browse my files or windows workgroups or domains from inside Firefox?

A2:

You can browse your file system in Firefox by using URLs that begin with file: and that contain the path you want to browse; for example, file:/home/you would display your home directory. Firefox is not, however, a file manager like Internet Explorer is; you can't use Firefox to copy files to other locations on your hard drive or to browse shared volumes on a Windows network. For file manager functionality, refer to Chapter 5, "Working with Files on the Desktop." For Windows networking functionality, refer to Chapter 13, "Using Other Network Tools."
