For standard multidimensional analysis within relational data sources, designers can create custom hierarchies that separate code drill paths from description drill paths. Otherwise, if you have sorted your objects within a class from largest to smallest increments, users are provided with a default drill path without any additional designer customization.

With the new UDS, designers build WebI reports and translation maps to enable users to drill seamlessly from a MOLAP cube to details in relational data sources. Any dimensions that are not similar between the MOLAP cube and the relational data source can easily be disabled in the translation map. To ensure your translations work correctly and the desired WebI reports appear when users select drill-through, follow these guidelines:

  • When you modify a Target Universe, you must update the translation map.

  • If the member names in the MOLAP cubes do not match the row values for objects in the universe, define member translations for each difference.

  • Verify you have correctly entered WebI report names in UDS Designer, using the same uppercase letters, spaces, and so on.

  • Restart the DTS Manager whenever you modify the translation map.
