The W3C XSL Working Group has done it again after creating the XSLT and XPath Recommendations in 1999, they produced the XSL Formatting Objects Recommendation in October 2001. Many thanks to the co-chairs Sharon Adler and Steve Zilles for leading the team to create a powerful and usable specification of formatting semantics and the XML vocabulary we can now use to express how we need to paginate our information.

The team at Prentice Hall PTR has also done it again for me after publishing Definitive XSLT and XPath (ISBN 0-13-065196-6) in December 1999, they produced this book for the companion Recommendation. Thank you, Mark Taub, for managing another of my projects through the process.

Thanks again to Dmitry Kirsanov and Alina Kirsanova for their editing, graphic layout, and production of the final result using XSL technology.

Thanks again also to Roman Kagarlitsky and the team at RenderX for the generous use of their XEP tool to render the book to PDF according to Alina's stylesheets.

And finally thanks as always to Charles Goldfarb for his continual encouragement and direction, giving me the confidence to bring another one of my training material works to the commercial publishing market.
