Conclusions

The tests and test results show that Sametime and Sametime Links can scale to support a very large numbers of clients. Not only can it scale, but also the scaling is linear in nature. A driving factor in the tests was to find the limits of the system. For a production environment that intends to support such large scale numbers of Sametime Links clients, and taking into consideration issues like failover and redundancy, the recommendations are to:

• Plan to support 50,000 Sametime Links clients per community hub, and not 100,000 as in the tests

• Do not run the MUX and the Sametime Links SA on a single server, in case there is a hardware failure on the server
