Updating the APT Package Database with Synaptic

 < Day Day Up >

It is a good idea to update the APT package database every so often in order to keep APT up-to-date with what is available for download. Earlier in this chapter, you used the apt-get update command in the Terminal to accomplish this, but it’s much simpler to do via Synaptic. Just click the Update List button in the main Synaptic window, and Synaptic will check the online repositories and update its package list. Very simple, eh?
