Summary
Security is the process of allowing or disallowing others access to information and resources. This chapter introduced the basic concepts of security: authentication, authorization, confidentiality, and integrity. These concepts have evolved through the years in the physical world and have now been applied to the digital world. Enterprises and organizations that need secure systems need to be knowledgeable about how these concepts are used and applied correctly in a secure system. The best secure solution is to have a flexible enough architecture to move forward with the technology, yet follow strict security rules with a plan that regulates, tests, and maintains the security system.
