In a controversial case involving China and the Internet, Yahoo! turned over to the Chinese government emails from a Yahoo! mail account used by a Chinese journalist. The journalist, Shi Tao, was jailed for 10 years for sharing a memo with foreigners, written by the Chinese authorities. The memo warned newspapers not to play up the 15th anniversary of the killings in Tiananmen Square.
