Working with Comments

The keyboard shortcuts that Acrobat provides allow you to perform most of your work with comments by using the keyboard.

Keyboard Shortcuts for Working with Comments

Windows [S], Mac [S]

Select the Note tool

Windows [E], Mac [E]

Select the Text Edits tool

Windows [K], Mac [K]

Select the Stamp tool

Windows [U], Mac [U]

Select the last highlighting tool used

The last highlighting tool used is the one selected in the Highlighting drop-down list.

Windows [Shift]-[U], Mac [Shift]-[U]

Cycle through the highlighting tools

Press this shortcut to select the Highlighter tool, the Cross-Out Text tool, and the Underline Text tool in that order, starting from the current highlighting tool.

Windows [D], Mac [D]

Select the last drawing tool

The last drawing tool used is the one selected in the Drawing drop-down list.

Windows [Shift]-[D], Mac [Shift]-[D]

Cycle through the drawing tools

Press this shortcut to select the Rectangle tool, the Oval tool, the Arrow tool, the Line tool, the Cloud tool, the Polygon tool, and the Polygon Line tool in that order, starting from the current tool.

Windows [X], Mac [X]

Select the Text Box tool

Windows [N], Mac [N]

Select the Pencil tool or the Pencil Eraser tool

This shortcut selects whichever of the Pencil tool or the Pencil Eraser tool was last used.

Windows [Shift]-[N], Mac [Shift]-[N]

Toggle between the Pencil tool and the Pencil Eraser tool

Windows [J], Mac [J]

Select the current attach tool

The current attach tool is the one selected in the Attach drop-down list.

Windows [Shift]-[J], Mac [Shift]-[J]

Cycle through the attach tools

Press this shortcut to revert to the last attach tool used and then cycle through the attach tools (the Attach File tool, the Attach Sound tool, and the Paste Clipboard Image tool, in that order).

Windows [Tab], Mac [Tab]

Move the focus to a comment

Pressing [Tab] also cycles through form fields in the document.

Windows [Spacebar], Mac [Spacebar]

Display a pop-up window for the comment that has the focus

Windows [Q], Mac [Q]

Send your comments

Windows [O], Mac [O]

Send and receive comments in a browser-based review

Windows [W], Mac [W]

Mark the document status as complete in a browser-based review

Windows [Y], Mac [Y]

Save the document and work offline in a browser-based review

Windows [I], Mac [I]
