Adding Flash Animations

 < Day Day Up >

Macromedia Flash movies are the most popular animation format, used for most animations you see on the Web. Flash is great for creating animated logos, animations that describe a process, or even cool animated charts for use in your presentations. Because Flash animations are usually vector graphics, you can scale the Flash movie on your slide with no loss of quality.

Keynote handles Flash movies in much the same way that it handles QuickTime movies. The Media Inspector works the same way for a Flash movie as it does for QuickTime.

To add a Flash movie to a slide

1.
In Keynote, go to the slide where you want to add a Flash movie.

2.
In the Finder, find the Flash file that you want to put in the presentation.

3.
Drag the Flash file onto the Slide Canvas.

The Flash movie appears on the Slide Canvas, showing the poster frame ( Figure 6.10 ).

Figure 6.10. After you drag a Flash animation onto your slide, you can choose a poster frame—the frame which will show while you're working with the slides—using the slider in the Media Inspector.

Tips

  • You can place as many Flash movies as you wish on a slide.

  • You can use the Poster Frame slider in the Media Inspector to set the poster frame for the movie, which can be any frame of the Flash movie.

  • You can use animated GIFs on your slides. Place them on the slide in the same way that you would add a Flash movie. You can then use the Media Inspector to control the animated GIF.

  • You can't use interactive Flash movies in your Keynote presentations because Key note does not pass mouse clicks or keyboard commands to the embedded Flash movie while you're giving your presentation.
