SBS 2003 provides excellent reporting and monitoring tools right out of the box. Configuring these reports can be achieved by running the built-in wizards, and the reports can be further customized to include other logs as well.

This chapter focused on the components of each report and alert, providing guidelines for getting more out of them and pointers for troubleshooting common situations that may arise. However, the chapter only scratched the surface in terms of what is possible to configure and monitor in SBS. Furthermore, some applications have their own monitoring functions that do not interact with the one in SBS. The reader is encouraged to further familiarize himself with all the monitoring options found in SBS and even with the ones available from third parties.
