Now that you know more about how RWW works on the user side, you may well want to learn about the inner workings of RWW. This section of the chapter explores the files and settings that make RWW tick. RWW File Locations and Registry SettingsThe SBS installation places all the files related to RWW in the C:\inetpub\Remote directory. This directory contains the ASPX files and the Web.Config file that drives the web application as well as a folder for image files. There is no special security for the files in this folderthe security settings are inherited from the C:\inetpub folder. The Registry settings related to RWW are located in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMallBusinessServer\RemoteUserPortal. In addition to the Registry values at that level, two subkeys, AdminLinks and KWLinks, help determine which menu options are visible in the Administrator and Client views. These values are set as part of the CEICW process and have their values determined by the options set in the firewall configuration section. RWW IIS ConfigurationRWW is created in IIS as a virtual directory off the Default Web Site. This Remote virtual directory runs as an application off the DefaultAppPool object. Table 15.5 lists the default settings for the Remote virtual directory for each of the tabs in the virtual directory properties.
