Whether it's a matter of consolidating monthly reports , creating a log of emails, or pulling together disparate parts of a presentation, there will be plenty of times when you will want to create a single PDF file from multiple source documents. Acrobat makes creating multisource PDF files from either raw source documents or from existing PDFs easy.

1.
Choose Source Documents

From the File menu, select Create PDF , From Multiple Files . In the Create PDF from Multiple Documents dialog box, click the Browse (Windows) or Add (Mac OS) button and locate and add files to the Files to Combine list. Both existing PDFs and files still in their original file formats can be combined together. Acrobat automatically converts non-PDFs when combining them.

TIP

A Create PDF from Multiple Files button appears in the Organizer that is identical in effect to the From Multiple Files command in the Create PDF submenu. They both bring up the Create PDF from Multiple Documents dialog box. The advantage of doing this from inside the Organizer is that, if you are combining multiple PDFs, locating them in the Organizer can be easier than in a standard Open dialog box.

To automatically have all open PDFs added to the list, click the Include All Open PDF Documents check box at the bottom of the Files to Combine list. You can also select recently combined files from the Include Recently Combined Files drop-down list; all files used in that recently combined file are then added to the Files to Combine list.

2.
Arrange Files

Arrange the files in the order in which you want them to be added to the PDF by clicking the file to move and then clicking either the Move Up or Move Down button. You can also move a file up or down by selecting the file and, while holding down with the left mouse button, dragging it up or down and dropping it at the desired location. If you've added a file by mistake, just select that file and click the Remove button.

3.
Combine Files

Click the OK button at the bottom of the Create PDF from Multiple Documents dialog box, and then sit back and relax as Acrobat combines all the listed files into a single PDF. This process can take a minute or two as Acrobat opens the different source applications and converts all the source documents.

4.
View the Result

When the process is complete, press the Page Down key or click the Next Page button at the bottom of the document window to view the newly combined files.
