Section 8.1. Introduction

8.1. Introduction

FitNesse allows you to view, change, and create Web pages containing documentation and test tables that are to be run by Fit. FitNesse makes it easy to access those pages through a Web browser and to share tables among many people working on a project.

In Chapter 7, we needed a spreadsheet or an HTML editor to change files, a double-click on a command file to run Fit, and a Web browser to view the Fit reports. By contrast, FitNesse enables the development and running of test suites through a single user interface (a Web browser).

Note

Micah D. Martin (micah@objectmentor.com) is the primary author and architect of FitNesse. Robert C. Martin (unclebob@objectmentor.com) is the number two man. Others who have contributed to FitNesse are Chris Beigay, Dan Flies, Steve Starkey, Paul Pagel, Kelly Harris, and Elmar Juergens.

FitNesse builds on Fit, as developed by Ward Cunningham. FitNesse details and downloads are available at www.fitnesse.org.
