Chapter 15. Chassis

Next to the motherboard, the chassis is one of the most important components in a server. The chassis determines how many expansion slots and internal drives the system can use and whether the system can be rack-mounted or must use up valuable floor space in a server room. There are more chassis options today than ever before, but some motherboard form factors may limit your chassis selection. You can use this chapter, along with Chapter 4, "Server Motherboards and BIOS," to help create a server with the right form factor for your needs.
