Interface design isn't only about making a device or application look attractive. It's about finding the appropriate representationvisual, audible, physicalthat inspires user input and guides system output. It's about embodying the characteristics of good interaction design as expressed in Chapter 3. It's about finding the right affordances so that users know what a device can do and how to make the device do it. And it's about making an appropriately pleasing application or device that people find useful and usable and want to integrate into their lives. |
