It's great to be able to flip open your iBook laptop and present a slideshow live, but there are times when you want to leave the slideshow with someone, such as your sister, to watch at her own convenience. Similarly, once your videos are archived onto digital tape, it's likely that you will want to distribute them. A DVD is a remarkably convenient way to distribute digital content, and burning a DVD has never been easier.

Christopher can't wait to make a DVD to send to Jessica's grandparents. They live in another town and are hungry for photos and videos from her life. Charlie's parents just got a SuperDrive to burn DVDs, and he archives his video journals onto the discs and removes them from the family Mac to conserve hard disk space (and maintain a little extra privacy). The ceramics studio has a large flat-panel display that customers often watch. Studio owner Jennifer cycles through a few DVDs each daypresenting slideshows of finished pieces (to give customers ideas for their own projects), quick techniques to try (like the sgraffito step-by-step), and other creative touchstones (the time-lapse videos are always crowd-pleasers, both instructive and entertaining).

In the same way that all the iLife applications integrate so effortlesslyadding music to slideshows or adding still photos to videosburning a DVD in iDVD is just as painless with its direct connection to your music, your photos, and your movies.
