Final Thoughts

You've set up your two universes the way most companies have developed over time. That is, the Linux folks are initially only talking Linux, and the Windows folks are only talking Windows. Except there is that one little delegated subdomain thing, where the Windows folks have their own sandbox to play in.

This lack of communication between the two camps isn't wonderfulit's just the way it is. But from this point forward, together we'll try to bridge the gap.

Your initial systems are now ready. However, in future examples in this book, prepare to install additional systems for testing. For instance, in Chapter 3 you'll need a Linux client machine specifically for authenticating to Active Directory via LDAP. And in Chapter 6 we suggest you install a Windows 2003 server just for Exchange email. We'll cross these bridges as we come to them.
