11.0 Introduction

 <  Day Day Up  >

This chapter looks at two related concepts, localization and resources. The relationship between these two items is purely hierarchical rather than symbiotic. The resource classes form a foundation to store static data that can be embedded within an assembly or loaded dynamically at runtime. Localization sits on top of that foundation and utilizes those classes to dynamically display the correct user -interface elements based on a certain culture. In other words, you can use resources without needing localization, but you can't perform localization without the rich support of the resource classes. The first part of this chapter demonstrates various techniques to localize and globalize your application. The latter part focuses on creating and using resources as an application design decision without regard for localization or globalization.
