As we've just seen, COM+ Services offers a rich set of functionality that can be leveraged when building distributed enterprise applications. Before you embark on your next enterprise development project, take some time to become more familiar with the functionality of COM+ Services. The Professional Windows DNA book from Wrox Press, mentioned earlier, is a good start.
In this chapter we've looked briefly at some of the available COM+ Services, and how to register your serviced components , and seen some examples of using the automatic transaction handling and Just-In-Time activation.
COM+ Services offer a wealth of functionality that would take a long time to replicate, and even longer to completely debug. What's more, the approaches that COM+ Services take to transaction support, resource conservation, and inter-process communication are quite generic: once you've learned them, you can apply them to a wide variety of problem domains.
