Knowing the scope of the work that is to be studied so as to gather the requirements for the product. Knowing which people will be involved in the project, and having them know what is expected of them. Knowing the users, which in turn will lead you to knowing the usability requirements for the product.

Knowing the constraints on the projecthow much money have you got to spend, and how much or how little time do you have to deliver the product? Knowing the words to be used on the project.

Knowing whether you can succeed.

The blastoff delivers knowledge. What is better, it delivers it at a time that it is most usefulat the beginning of the project when crucial decisions have to be made.

The blastoff deliverables will reappear later in this book. Some of them are used as input to the mainstream requirements activities. None of them is wasted.
