Shenzhen has abundant natural resources and products, particularly fresh vegetables, poultry and livestock, aquatic products and fruits. The coastal area teems with over 30 species of famous and rare fish including the golden thread fish, the 'big-eye' porgy, sea bass, shrimps, crabs, shells and algae. The city also abounds with oysters and coastal shrimps, which are renowned both in China and abroad. The city is Hong Kong's largest supplier of fresh milk. 15 metallic and 12 non-metallic minerals have been prospected and there are over 900 mineral deposits, of which building material minerals such as freshwater sand, marble, granite and limestone have abundant reserves .
