Chengdu, the provincial capital, is the railway hub of the province , with main lines extending to Yunna, Guizhou and Hunan provinces . By the end of 2000, the total length of highways in Sichuan had reached 1,000 kilometres, the longest in western China. Trunk roads lead to Sha'anxi and elsewhere. Sichuan has one of the best inland waterway transportation systems in China, with the Yangtze as the main traffic artery. Air services link Chengdu with major Chinese cities and there are regular international flights to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Japan and the Republic of Korea. The province is a tourist centre , with beautiful mountains and rivers.
