Part Overview

If you've done nearly everything you can do in Flash and you're wondering what else is possible — this is the section that will give you an introduction to the best applications and workflows for expanding your projects beyond pure Flash. We could have called this section the "Working With" section because all of the chapters included here cover applications that work with Flash and the techniques you can use to work with these programs to enhance your multimedia project development.

In Parts 1 through VII, you learned that Flash can tackle some of the most complex graphic, animation, sound, and interactive projects. But, as we all know, no one program can do it all (or do it all best). For optimum efficiency and creative options, most of us work with a tool-box of multiple programs that fit together in various ways. In an effort to help you find the best place for Flash amongst the other key applications that you might be using, we have included this section on "Expanding Flash."

In this part, included on the CD-ROM as PDF files, we have compiled coverage of the most relevant applications that you can leverage for specialized tasks and use to discover new creative possibilities. If Macromedia Fireworks or Dreamweaver are part of your toolbox, this section will provide guidance on how to make the most of these programs in your Flash workflow. We also include coverage of the latest versions of Adobe's most popular programs, Illustrator and Photoshop.
