Put in Place a Project Management Team That Can See the Solution Through to Rollout

 <  Day Day Up  >

Martin knew from the start who would comprise the project team. He had planned for himself and his direct reports to see this through until the end. The "head time" this project was receiving from senior executives was increasing. They were seeing this as a possible company-wide solution if all went well.

As Jason and his handful of consultants flew to Scotland for the first pilot implementation, he had a knot in his stomach. How could he possibly get this pilot deployed in the time he had been given? He needed to get to 4 different continents and 7 different cities in less than 15 days. This did not give him a lot of time to do anything. He also knew that if this pilot was successful, he would need to hand it off to a production team. He had no one from production even listed as part of the pilot.

The Methodology

The pilot group will learn a lot about deploying the biometric system, and it would be ideal to leverage that experience for the deployment. The group chosen by the stakeholders to be the project management team should be able to see the project through from the pilot to the deployment stage. By doing this, the speed and confidence with which the deployment will occur are increased.
