As biometric technology advances, more exotic forms of measurement will become available. These new features could measure things like the electro-magnetic field of a person or the internal structure of the human body. Current research in using Terrahertz wavelengths will allow for the internal viewing of bone and tissue structures. This would be a good biometric to use as it would be available while wearing protective suits and gloves, and could do very reliable alive -and-well detection on the users. It is also safe. This technology is being designed to use nano-technologies from the outset. As such, it will be easy to integrate into existing and future applications. Research in reading electromagnetic patterns has been in development for a number of years . This technology comes from the use of space-based telescopes. Now the technology is being commercialized for use in other applications. It is not hard to believe that any individual physical or psychological trait could one day be tapped for biometrics. Maybe someday they will be able to use the distinct patterns of brainwaves! |
