It Works Like This

To see what you'll create with this project, check out the Ch13FinishedProject.mov movie file in this chapter's folder on the book's DVD. The project consists of several layers that are integrated in 3D space. The shapes form a sphere of clouds inside of a 3D box.

You'll use these techniques:

1. Create a stormy sky from a solid layer by using the Fractal Noise and Advanced Lighting effects.

2. Convert the stormy sky to a stormy globe by using the BCC Sphere effect from Boris FX, and then animate the globe so it spins.

3. Create a title that orbits the stormy globe by using the BCC Sphere effect.

4. Create a steel box to contain the spinning globe by applying the BCC Steel Plate effect to solid layers.

5. Animate the steel box and its text label by using a Null Object layer in 3D space.
