Preparing to Work

This project requires three Adobe Illustrator files and an audio file, all of which are provided for you on this book's DVD. When you import the Illustrator files, the project should contain three new compositions (one for each file) and a folder of footage for each composition.

Tip

Check out the sidebar "Import As Options: Do You Really Understand Them?" in Chapter 1 ("Spinning Squares") for a thorough explanation of the three options for importing footage.

To prepare for this project, do the following:

1.

Start with a new project, and save it as Ch12SonicPromo.

2.

Choose File > Import Multiple Files, and open the three Illustrator files (sonic.ai, recordingBox.ai, and sOnic Radar.ai) from this chapter's folder on this book's DVD. Set the Import As option to Composition Cropped Layers for each file, and then open the audio file Sonic_track.aif with Import As set to Footage. Click Done.

3.

Create a new composition named Sonic Promo, using the NTSC D1 Square Pix, 720x540 composition preset, with Duration 15;00 seconds.

4.

Set the composition's Background Color to HSB: 198, 100, 65.

5.

Add the Sonic_track.aif file to the Sonic Promo Timeline at time 0;00.
