Playing Back the Master Tracks

 <  Day Day Up  >

After you have completed mixing down to the master tracks, you will have to turn them on to hear them play back. When the mastering tracks are turned on, you will not be able to hear the original 16 tracks. Do the following to play back the mastering tracks:

1.
Press PLAY/DISPLAY.

2.
Press PAGE until you see "M ***" (*** is either Rec, Ply, or Off) above F6.

3.
Press F6 until "M Ply" (Master Play) appears.

4.
Press F6 again to select this setting.

Master Tracks Status Display

After you press F6 to select M Ply, the display will change. It will no longer display "M Ply" even though you are in the master track play status. This is very confusing to many new users of VS studios . Just remember that the status on the display is telling you what status it will be in after you press it. The background of the Master Level L/R indicators will change accordingly .

  • Clear or no background = 16 track recording mode

  • Normal or darkened background = Master track recording mode

  • Square box surrounding L/R indicators = Master track playback mode

5.
Rewind to the location where you began the mixdown .

6.
Press PLAY. The master tracks start to play while all the other tracks are muted. At this time, the master volume fader controls the master tracks.
