As with most applications, the ability to work with a database is a common requirement. The .NET framework provides a rich set of database APIs for you to employ within your applications. Through the use of the Reflection API, generic data access and entity serialization to and from SQL Server can be realized with a minimal amount of effort. The following chapters will make use of this simple data layer to develop the Employee Browser application.
