Standardizing Exchange Server 2003 Servers

 <  Day Day Up  >

Organizations are challenged by varying IT infrastructure standards because all too often systems vary in the type of components used, how they are built, how they are configured, and more. The variations require significantly more administration and maintenance especially in mid to large size environments. The result of which increases the number of IT personnel needed to support such a solution and the associated IT expenditures.

Standardizing the messaging environment is in the organization's best interest not only to save on administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting but also to help promote a more secure environment. Standardization ensures that each server has been properly secured based on the role or function that it serves.

Standardizing Server Builds

When organizations build servers from scratch, typically the build parameters including security configurations are inconsistent. From an administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security point of view, this can be a nightmare. Each server must be treated individually and administrators must try to keep track of separate, incongruent configurations.
