I am most grateful to Hewlett-Packard Company for having allowed me to include selected HP-UX manual pages in this book. I have received a great deal of positive feedback on the inclusion of manual pages in my previous books. Many readers find it helpful to have the manual pages in the book to refer to when reading when no system is available to check on a command (apparently a lot of people are reading my books while not at the office). Only a limited number of manual pages are included in the book in Appendixes A and B. Most of the manual pages are related to either Virtual Partitions (vPars,) the boot process such as isl , or pages that I often refer to such as awk and grep When a command is used for which there is an online manual page included in the book, the following information appears in the margin:
This is a "man page" block, which includes the man page icon, the command name , in this case isl , and the appendix in which the online manual page appears, in this case Appendix A. |
