Chris Stone (author of the Unix chapters) is a senior systems administrator (the Mac guy) at O'Reilly Media and co-author of Mac OS X Panther in a Nutshell , published by O'Reilly. A San Francisco native, he got his English degree at Humboldt State University and spent ten years hidden away in the Japanese countryside before returning to the North Bay area, where he lives with his wife Miho and sons Andrew and Jonathan.
