Motion offers two simple ways to trim a region in the mini-Timeline:
Drag the edge of the region to extend or shorten it.
Move the playhead to the place you want to trim, and press I to edit the beginning (In point) or O to edit the ending (Out point).
Let's use the second method, using the playhead and the keyboard shortcut.
1.
Click the bubbles in the Canvas to select the Bubbles Rising layer in your project. The blue region called Bubbles Rising should appear in the mini-Timeline.
NOTE
If your mini-Timeline has anything in it other than Bubbles Rising, deselect everything and try again.
2.
Press the spacebar to pause playback. This method of trimming a region requires that you stop playback.
3.
Select the Current Frame field and type 2.15 and then press Return. The playhead moves to 2;15 in the mini-Timeline. Notice that the yellow circle is on its way out of the frame.
4.
Press the I key to trim the Bubbles Rising region so that it starts at 2;15. The blue Bubbles Rising region changes in the mini-Timeline so that it starts at the playhead position.
5.
Press the spacebar again to resume playback.
6.
Press Cmd-S to save your progress.
