Previewing Generators in the Library

The Library includes a Generators folder that contains a selection of checkerboards, gradients, noise patterns, and other computer-generated elements for use in your projects. They are called generators because they don't exist as objects until you add them to a project, and therefore Motion generates that item specifically for your project. You can add generators to your projects as you would any other object. Let's preview some of the generators in the Library. The Generators icon looks like a screen with a color-bar test pattern.

1.

Press Cmd-2 to open the Library tab.

2.

Select Generators in the upper pane of the Library.

The lower pane of the Library lists 12 generators.

3.

Select the first generator in the lower pane of the Library to view it in the Preview area.

4.

Press the down arrow (if in List view) to view the next selection until you preview all 12 generators.

As you can see, the generators include static images like Gradient and Color Solid and moving images like Cellular and Swirly.
