Identifying, Marking, and Splitting Each Clip by Triplet

Identifying, Marking, and Splitting Each Clip by "Triplet"

In this task, we mark the start and end of each of the "triplet" characters so that we can create clips that contain only one triplet per clip. So, because we are talking triplets here, we'll go from one big triplet-packed clip, to three clips, each with its own unique triplet. We'll label each clip by triplet: TRIPLET1, TRIPLET2, and TRIPLET3.

Mark the Start Point for Each "Triplet"

Switch to Timeline view on the My Project panel, if necessary (that is, if you're in Sceneline view).

Note

To switch to Timeline view, click the Timeline button in the upper right of the My Project panel.

Using your mouse, grab the Current Time Indicator, or CTI, and glide it along the Timeline until you find the break between "Triplet" #1 and "Triplet" #2.

Hint

The second triplet enters at 23 seconds into the clip, at 00;00;23;00.

Click the Add Marker button (shown below) to drop a marker here.

Move the CTI again until you find "Triplet" #3's entrance.

Hint

The third triplet appears just about one minute into the clip, at 00;00;57;00.

Click the Add Marker button again to drop a marker here.

Press the Home key on your keyboard to return the CTI to the front, or head, of the triplets clip.

Tip

If the full clip is not visible, press the backslash key, \, to view the full clip.

Split and Rename Each Triplet's Clip

While holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard, press the right arrow key to jump to the first marker.

Click the Split Clip button on the Monitor panel to split the clip at this point (at 00;00;23;00).

Press CTRL-right arrow again to jump to the next marker.

Click the Split Clip button on the Monitor panel again to split the clip here (at 00;00;57;00).

Rename the clips:

  • With your mouse, right-click on the first clip, at the front, and from the contextual menu that displays, select Rename.

  • In the Rename Clip dialog box, rename the clip by typing TRIPLET1 in the Clip Name field.

  • Click OK.

  • Repeat this process on the remaining two clips and rename them TRIPLET2 and TRIPLET3, respectively.
