Adding the Transported Man to the Timeline

The transporterman.avi clip is a clip, a few seconds long, of an actor standing in place for a brief moment before walking away. We'll be taking this very basic clip (which is exactly the kind of clip that you should shoot to use the Beam Me Up Effect with your own friends and family) and transforming it into a science fiction masterpiece. First, we'll add the actor to the Timeline, and then we'll take a snapshot of him standing in place.

Add the transporterman.avi Clip to the Timeline

With your mouse, select the transporterman.avi in the Media panel.

Drag and drop the transporterman.avi clip onto the Video 1 track on the Timeline so that the head (front) of the clip is at the very beginning of the track.

Tip

If you are in Sceneline view, just drop the clip onto the first scene placeholder.

For this project, we'll need to be in Timeline view because we are working with multiple clips on multiple video tracks. So, if the My Project panel is not already in Timeline view, click the Timeline button (shown below) to switch.
