By Matt Pizzi IN THIS CHAPTER Dreamweaver MX offers a remarkable way of organizing a site's assets. An asset is an item that enhances or adds functionality to a Web design. Items such as images, Shockwave, QuickTime, Flash, JavaScript, and even colors or links are all considered assets. By storing these items in one central location, you're offered the benefit of quick access to any one of these items. No more shuffling around searching for the same content in the local root folder. Furthermore, the Assets panel offers a Favorites section. Many times, Web sites have thousands of assets, and chances are you're not going to need access to all those assets on a regular basis, so Macromedia created an option within the Assets panel called Favorites. Within the Favorites you can store more commonly used assets, such as the graphics of a company logo, colors that you've been using throughout the site, or even commonly used hyperlinks that you use often on different pages. You'll notice in Figure 9.1 that the Assets panel is divided into several categories. Figure 9.1. The Assets panel offers several categories on the left side of the panel. |
