Most of us can remember the first database application we built in FoxBASE or FoxPro. The thrill of seeing everything work for the first time is hard to forget. That ability to do simple things quickly and easily made FoxPro the huge success that it became. You'll find the same to be true of Visual Basic .NET.

In this chapter, we'll build simple applications in both languages, using the techniques that are appropriate for a FoxPro application. Then we'll begin to differentiate the Visual Basic .NET model to take into account the idiosyncrasies of that platform and the slightly different expectations in that world.
