About the Technical Reviewers

Michael Carey is a technical marketing engineer with the Cisco Multi Service Switching Business Unit (MSSBU), specializing in large scale Frame Relay and ATM network deployments. In several countries, over the past 28 years, Michael has held a variety of product design, sales, and marketing positions in the networking and data communications industry.

Timothy Cricchio is a Cisco field trial engineer in the MSSBU. His responsibilities include demonstrating new products and features on-site to carriers worldwide, providing consultation on how they might integrate and use these new items in their existing network, performing competitive tests between Cisco and other vendors on-site, creating technical documents detailing new feature configurations, and working with Tech Pubs ensuring release documentation is accurate. Timothy has also worked in technical support for over 20 years and for various vendors.

Gary Day, CCIE certified No. 6310, is a project consultant within Cisco Systems, Inc. He is responsible for network designs for EMEA service providers across a wide product range with a core focus on MPLS. He has been with Cisco for five years and has performed a wide range of roles, including technical support of some of the largest MSSBU networks worldwide.

Mark Newcomb, CCNP, CCDP, owns Secure Networks, a consulting firm in Spokane, Wash. Secure Networks' focus is on providing comprehensive networking solutions to clients throughout the Northwest. These services include security audits through network design and implementation. He has 20 years of experience in the networking industry, with the last five years focused on network security issues. Robin Smith, CCIE certified No. 4230, is a technical marketing engineer for Cisco's Multi-Service Switching Business Unit (MSSBU). He ensures that the field organization and customer receive technical and commercial marketing information on the MSSBU product line. He came to Cisco via the StrataCom acquisition in 1996. His area of expertise is the integration of ATM and MPLS service provider networks.

Dave Warren, CCNP-WS, CCIP, CCSI, is an independent consultant and trainer. He has worked in the computer and networking industry since the early '80s. For the past five years he has taught and consulted on an array of software and hardware products, both Cisco and beyond. He works with Sequoia Networks in San Jose, Calif., which specializes in training for WANs.

Steve Wisniewski, CCNP, has an MS in telecom engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He has more than ten years of networking experience and is employed as a senior engineer for Greenwich Technology Partners. He has authored two books on networking for Prentice Hall and is presently coauthoring a book for Cisco Press. He lives in East Brunswick, N.J. with his wife, Ellen, and their 16 dogs.
