If you have any familiarity with Oracle Portal, you know that it contains wizards to create both forms and reports. While blessed with a very small learning curve, the capabilities and features sets of the forms and reports components in Oracle Portal pale in comparison to the equivalent Oracle Forms 10 g and Oracle Reports 10 g products. Note

This is not to imply that the forms and reports components of Oracle Portal 10g are not worthy of investigation ”they are incredibly powerful wizard-based components that allow the developer to create forms and reports to be deployed exclusively on the Web with sophisticated features such as advanced security and visual templates in a very short period of time. The Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Reports 10g products have richer feature sets, however, allowing the developer to control virtually every aspect of the deployed application. The forms and reports components of Oracle Portal will be discussed in detail in

Oracle provides a migration tool that allows you to import reports developed in Oracle Portal 10 g into Oracle Reports 10 g . This way, an Oracle Portal report that needs to be enhanced beyond what is available in Oracle Portal can be modified in Oracle Reports 10 g . It is then possible to re-integrate the report back into Oracle Portal.
