How to Eat the Elephant

I hope this book has been an interesting and impacting read. But please don't put it down here. I promised you at the beginning that this book could easily add thousands - and for many of you tens of thousands - of pounds to your net profit.

But of course it never will. It is destined to fail, destined to be a disappointment. Why? Because you won't apply it, will you? Come on now, be honest, you are about to put this book away, aren't you?

You told yourself that you would try to apply some of these principles when you next got a chance. Don't kid yourself. Do something now and there is a chance that you will make some real money. Leave it and you never will.

Write down the five key things that you know intuitively will give you the greatest advantage immediately. Jot them down now in the space below:

  1. .............................................................................................

  2. .............................................................................................

  3. .............................................................................................

  4. .............................................................................................

  5. .............................................................................................

Please use these at the next possible opportunity. Promise me this. If they work for you, write down the next five and try them. Keep doing it and you will not only read, but begin to implement the keys of negotiating effectively.

Why did I call it 'how to eat the elephant'? Simply this - the only way to eat an elephant is to do it one bite at a time. In other words, any daunting or sizeable task is best done in bite-size chunks. This is sometimes called the 5 per cent rule. Try to implement 100 per cent at one go and you will get demotivated quickly. However, we know from experience that if you take 5 per cent of the material at a time, it is manageable. You are likely to make it work, and you are most likely to make money! Five ways is roughly 5 per cent.

Go on, do it now. Do it for yourself, for your company, for your family.

God bless you as you put these principles into practice.
