In the My Network Places window, click the Add a network place link.
The Add Network Place Wizard opens. Click the Next button.
Select Choose another network location , and click Next .
Click the Browse button to locate the computer, drive, or folder for which you want to create a shortcut.
INTRODUCTION
If you find yourself constantly rooting around in the My Network Places window to locate a particular computer, drive, or folder, you might want to create a shortcut to it. This shortcut can point to any computer, drive, or folder on the network.

Creating Shortcut to Web Pages or FTP Sites
You can create shortcuts to Web pages or FTP sites. Simply enter the URL of the page or site in the Internet or network address box on the window shown in step 4.
Navigate to the computer, drive, or folder to which you want to create a shortcut. Select it and click OK .
Click Next to continue.
If asked, type a name for the shortcut (or leave the default), and click Next .
Click Finish .

Shortcut Name
The shortcut name can be a "friendly" or descriptive name; it need not match the actual drive or folder name.

Adding Shortcut to the Desktop
In addition to creating a network shortcut that appears in the My Network Places window, you can create one that appears on your desktop. To do so, simply right-click and drag the icon representing the computer, drive, or folder for which you want to create a shortcut from the My Network Places window to the desktop. Choose Create Shortcut(s) Here from the menu that appears when you release your mouse button. Windows will place the shortcut on your desktop.
